Giving
Where does my money actually go?
To the charity you chose. Given takes a 3% platform fee and shows you the exact split before you confirm — the gift, the fee, and what the organization receives. Every charity on Given is a registered 501(c)(3) with an EIN on file.
Can I give without my name showing?
Yes. Choose Private when you give. A private gift stays off the feed and out of any named list, but it still counts toward your totals, your rank, and your credit — giving quietly is a display choice, not a penalty.
How do I stop a monthly gift?
Settings → Monthly giving → choose the gift → Stop. It ends immediately. Everything already given stays with the charity, and your rank and collection are unaffected.
Credits and trophies
What is credit worth?
Nothing outside Given. Credit is a count of what you have given, not a currency. It cannot be bought, sold, transferred, or cashed out, and giving is the only way to get it.
What happens when a season ends?
The pieces in that season retire and can no longer be claimed. Anything you already own stays yours permanently and continues to show in your trophy room.
Rank and the leaderboard
Can people see how much I have given?
No. Your lifetime total is private to you. It determines your rank, and your rank is public — but the number itself is never shown to anyone else. What other people see is your collection.
Why is someone with fewer trophies ranked above me?
The leaderboard ranks by the giving each collection represents, not by how many pieces it contains. One expensive piece can outrank several cheap ones.
Receipts and tax
Does Given give me a tax receipt?
No — and the distinction matters. Given produces an annual statement of what you gave, when, and to whom. The charity issues the contemporaneous written acknowledgment the IRS asks for.
Given does not give tax advice and does not state a deductible amount. Because giving on Given earns credit, your gift may be treated differently from a plain donation. Talk to a tax professional about your own situation.
My employer matches donations. What do I do?
Add your employer in Settings → Employer matching and Given will track which gifts you have filed and what is still unclaimed. You file the match with your employer, not with Given — we cannot see their system. Matched money goes straight to the charity and does not count toward your rank or credit.
Your account
How do I make my account private?
Settings → Private account. Only approved followers can see your collection. Your name and rank stay visible, and you remain on the leaderboard.
How do I download my data?
Settings → Download your data. You get a complete JSON copy of your profile, every donation, your statements, your collection, and more. The file is generated on your device.
How do I delete my account?
Settings → Delete account. It asks for your password and cannot be undone. Your profile, collection, credit, rank, follows and posts are removed, and any monthly giving is canceled. Donations already sent are kept in a de-identified form — the charity has received and receipted that money, and both sides need the record — but your name comes off them.
